I’ve just gone to run Arturia Software Centre on my Windows 11 PC (fully updated) for the first time in a while, and I noticed that the User Account Control reports that Arturia Softwre Center.exe is an app from an unknown publisher. I was almost certain that in the past it showed it was from Arturia SAS. I can’t remember the last time I ran something which wasn’t signed by a publisher.
I’ve checked the binaries in C:\Program Files (x86)\Arturia\Arturia Software Center (which is where the shortcut points to), and none of the .exe files in there have a digital signature.
It struck me as a bit weird, as all of my Arturia apps - V Collection, Pigments and Minifreak V are all signed by Arturia SAS.
I’ve reinstalled ASC today with the latest version from Arturias website - Arturia_Software_Center__2_8_1_2731. The installer file is also signed by Arturia SAS, which User Account Control confirms when I ran it. But again, the executables for ASC are unsigned.
The sha256 for the installer is 9EB4910BAE01241186C85565E726662629B9BB1762B2FF64F05A426292CE4CF7, and it checks out fine at VirusTotal and Kaspersky Threat Intelligence Portal.
I can only find one video on Youtube which shows the installation of ASC on Windows, and that video, which is from “Mr Maestro” and is two months old, shows that when he runs Software Centre from the shortcut he gets a User Account Control message stating that its from a verified publisher - Arturia SAS.
So, I’m wondering what’s happening. Arturia’s major binaries seem to be signed, and the video suggest that ASC should be signed too. But in my case, it isn’t.
I’d be interested in knowing if others are also seeing an unsigned ASC executable.
