Hi Arturia,
I’ve been a big fan for many years. I’ve loved the plugins you’ve made. I had your plugins in the top of my list for a long time. All that changed once I heard Acustica Audio’s new Jupiter 8 plugin, they call THING. TH8, is an incredible PROPER emulation of the late great Roland Jupiter 8. It’s not just Acustica Audio though, there’s several companies that are surpassing your sound quality.
I’m getting more and more concerned with the sound quality of the plugins you have in your catalog now, besides a few like Minifreak V, Synth V. ( Instant purchases )
Maybe it’s time for the Polybrute VST now to prove you can match some of these other companies higher end quality.
It’s probably time you release updates to get the sound quality of your plugins up to match what a few companies such as Softube, Xils, Acustica and TAL audio are now offering.
Please don’t take this as disrespect, but from a concerned customer, who’s supported your products for a long time now.
Please pay attention to the audio conversion in your products, so they sound at least as good / on par as the analog synths you have to offer, as THING from Acustica has raised the bar, quite high now.
To the guys/gals that will be brand loyalist to the end, this isn’t meant to hurt anyone’s feelings. I’ve invested thousands in Acustica products… BUT the difference is I want Arturia to be around for the long haul.
So please Arturia have a good test and listen and see how you can update the line up to at least match these other companies sound quality… I thank you Truly… Cheers
I do agree. Arturia started to realy up their game with the launch of the DX7 emulation. Everything new, since then, has been top-tier. Also since then, there have been re-writes of some fan-favourites such as the Mini Moog, Prophet 5, Prophet VS and Yamaha CS80…but some of the other ‘OG’ V Collection synths such as the Jupiter 8, ARP2600, SEM and Moog Modular are pretty lame, and recent updates have been just re-skins around old emulation technologies whose authenticity has now been surpassed by both the competition and by that of the newer Arturia emulations.
I expect Arturia to continue to ‘drip feed’ re-writes of these older synths into annual V Collection updates, but only Arturia themselves know which ones and when.
Hi LBH,
I welcome you to the conversation. I’m assuming you’re also a Roland Jupiter 8 lover + Arturia synth lover as I am. I did not intend to start a thread in order to argue the opinions of users.
Instead of trying to convince you with words, Acustica offers a free demo of TH8 on their website. I welcome your ears to check it out, play the THING TH8 model, and give it a shot next to our beloved Arturia J8.
I think it will be a revelation for most, but as I originally wrote, there will be brand loyalists, either way. I think we can always distinguish fact from fiction.
Hearing the Polybrute 12, and owning the Polybrute 6. I think it’s time Arturia shows the VST world, what they can make possible in a VST instrument now.Using Arturia’s latest technology as well as update their line up.
This is mainly a voice of concern for my beloved Arturia plugins, and I want them to stay relevant ,as Acustica’s already planning on releasing a Special Sequential Prophet next…
Cheers
Let’s try not to confuse good sound quality with faithfulness. Many old/classic/vintage synths were/are not consistent in their sound from one unit to another due to age and the quality of components. But there’s the charm. So, maybe what we are really looking for in a plugin is not so much good sound quality but a faithful recreation of that one synth we used 30 or 40 years ago, trying to get ‘that’ sound we remember.
My first synth was a Korg MS20 in 1982. Can I accurately remember how it sounded- no. But do Arturias MS20v or even Korgs own MS20 plugin seem pretty faithful to that memory? Yes.
For that reason, I think the inclusion the ‘circuit’ panel on some of Arturias plugins is a welcome one helping move in the direction of that old sound.
I am sure the Thing TH8 sounds good but so do many other recreations.
I suggest you demo it before drawing any sort of conclusions, this isn’t a typical jump in sound, they’ve actually raised the bar. If you remember what VST’s sounded like many years ago, and when the jump happened in quality, this is what I mean in terms of sound quality.
Regardless,we all know that most analog synths sound alot more warm, 3d,alive,more appealing than most digital ( not saying digital can’t be good, obviously we know it can ) this is due to the harmonic distortion in analog synths, or tubes we can argue a similar case.
This is what Acustica has achieved here. I think if your an analog synth lover, and I think you are, I think you’ll be very impressed! cheers
Don’t forget to try Mega mode !
