If I photograph it, I doubt anyone could see it, on the other hand, if I look at it under my professional microscope that I use for my elecreonics hobby, it looks like a giant crater has been dug out of the glass.
Wanted a MacBook for ages and family said they would put some money towards it for my 60th.
Looking at new ones, the cheapest 16” has M3 Pro, 18GB RAM and 512GB SSD, that costs £2,599
My 16” with the M1 Pro chip, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD cost £1,250, just under 1/2 the price.
My model only came out in 2021, when checking the serial number with Apple, my MacBook was first registered in April 2022, I bought it May 2024 so only 2 years old.
Wasn’t a noticeable mark on it when bought, battery health still perfect etc, very very very pleased with it.
Considering my 13 year old i7 desktop had 64 GB RAM and my MacBook has 16GB of Unified RAM, I was expecting the MacBook to struggle etc and was honestly expecting to spend about £2k around Xmas this year replacing my windows desktop.
But the MacBook Pro with M1 Pro chip and only 16GB Unified RAM absolutely flies, never been so impressed.
Just bought a “CalDigit TS4 Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station”. Everything at my main desk that my Desktop was connected to (Keylab 61 mk2, NI S88 mk3, Maschine mk3, 38” monitor, Presonus studio 5 monitors, audio interface, ILok) is now connected to this. I have one USB C cable permanently plugged into it with the other end waiting for my MacBook.
Now, when I’ve had a good day and my health allows me to move from my armchair to my main desk, all I have to do is plug this one cable in, MacBook lid closed, and everything simply works.
I now have zero need to upgrade my Windows Desktop PC as I’m more than happy with my Mac. I did buy a Magic Keyboard (with Touch ID), magic touchpad and magic mouse for using my MacBook on my main desk, all paired wirelessly with my MacBook, so as long as I remember to charge them from time to time (charge lasts days) , I’m ready to make music yay.
