I searched the manual but couldn’t find info on how fast the built in hub is. I plugged a T7 SSD into the front of my AudioRig and and it’s reading at 26MB/s when I plug the SSD directly into the Macbook I get 700MB/s is it really that slow of a Hub?
It’s a USB 2 hub. In principle, it should be able to get up to 480 Megabits/s (or 60 MegaBytes/s), but real world performance might be less than that. In any case, you probably want to connect SSDs or HDs to a USB 3 hub/port or better. I think the hub ports on the 16Rig are mainly intended for MIDI devices, which don’t require much bandwidth and often only support USB 1.1.
I was rather shocked the other day when i hooked up an external USB3/C SSD to my machine, to find that it massively out performs the two SATA SSDs i still have for sample library on my system… I’ll be replacing with M.2 drives at some point i think.
