Hi guys,
I’m thinking about getting up a KMI 12 step2 foot controller to use with my minifreak on a live band setting. Anyone has experience with the combo? my main goals are:
- Preprogram some chords so I can add a layer of cool minifreak pads/patches while still playing guitar.
- Launch/add some drone notes and control the expression with the 12 step aftertouch/pressure/tilt capabilities.
- Load minifreak patches via Program change commands. This part is the least fun but the most important, since preset management on the hardware minifreak is not that great for live usage even with the recent favorites panel addition.
Anyone has experience with a similar setup or can recommend other approaches/controllers to achieve something similar? I really love my minifreak and some of the custom patches I’ve created and want to incorporate those into my live show duties.
The 12 step seems like a match made in heaven but I’m not sure about robustness and long term reliability really polar opposite reviews for the most part (although most of the bad reviews came from v1 users).
The other alternative is maybe getting a roland pk5 secondhand, but it is big and bulky and quite old by now, although seems to be really robust. I love that I could incorporate the 12 step into my pedalboard easily.
Thanks in advance guys!
