I think I have already answered my own question on this one, I’m just really looking for a second opinion…
There are many patches in the Easel that are just continuous as soon as you hit a key. This may be beneficial playing live, but is a nightmare when composing. All I really need is a practical way to get it to start and stop with the DAW or at the press of a key.
As far as I can tell there is no way to do this. You can kind of come close in some patches if you set the Sequential Voltage Source to keyboard and you manually set up a sequence in the daw to trigger the steps. That doesn’t work for everything though as patches can get complicated and could be receiving their sequence information from elsewhere.
As anyone figured out a foolproof way to start and stop sequences?!?
I’m by no means an expert on The Buchla V, but a bit of a scan through the manual, page 82/118 10.3.4 suggests you might be able to do so by using one of the function generators… i might be wrong though!
HTH! (or at least points you in the right direction)!
The Sequential Voltage Source respond to the Triggers the module have.
The Right Hand Sequencer do have a RUN mode that follow the DAW position. But there unfortunately is’nt a option where it stop, when the DAW is stopped.
The ONCE and LOOP modes stop when the DAW is stopped. But an option for them to follow DAW position unfortunately does’nt exist.
BTW: In ONCE mode the Sequencer do not stop after playing once like the Functions do. It play as long a note is held.
The GRAVITY module also have different modes and also different TRIGGER SOURCES,
If Buchla Easel give sound all the time or not also depend on the GATE slider settings.
So yes it’s preset programming based. And a mode where the DAW both stop and start a sequence from any current song position does as far as i know not exist. The way Buchla Easel work, then i don’t think it’s possible for everything.
If you turn down the Volume or close the 4 GATE sliders, then you will have no sound. That perhaps can be used in some cases.
I preferably wanted something a bit more immediate and practical than automating, but at least automating the Gate slider sliders could give me a more elegant degrees of control than simply master volume fades. Nice idea.
