Please welcome another complete Patch Collection for the Prophet VS. Thanks to the deep diving I did creating these patches, I have learnt a lot about this synth, which to be honest, I had underrated until now.
32 patches, free to download and pay what you want.
Some are surprising and just tweaking the macros isn’t enough; one must try the joystick.
I’m more into pads, keys, textures in general. The soft lead No Trees to hide has an unstable ring reminiscent of BOC.
If it was not a compliment, I would keep it for myself.
I enjoy this kind of slightly “wobbly” sound.
The Astrolabs don’t have joysticks. Can’t the macros be used to simulate a joystick?
Not the macros but you can assign MIDI to the X and the Y movements of the joystick. I just tried assigning them to two knobs on my Keylab and although a little awkward, it works. So, you could also assign the mod wheel for example to X or Y.
I’ve seen the Korg MC-1 microKontrol in an Astrolab 37 review in the last few days but I can’t remember which review.
I had a Wavestation and I gave it away!!! The Korg Legacy collection had a good emulation of the Wavestation.
I’m rediscovering the Prophet Vs V.
I once wrote to Dave Smith, father of the Wavestation and the Prophet, at the beginning of the 2000s to tell him how great his Evolver monosynth was. I had (still have) the #200 (±).
Actually, the default MIDI mapping in Analog Lab / AstroLab for Prophet VSV presets has Joystick X on MIDI CC73 and Joystick Y on MIDI CC75, which are by default assigned to Fader 1 and 2 on all KeyLabs.
