16rig USB issue

Hello all. I just bought a refurbished 16rig from a retailer. I’m not able to register with the current serial number and have reached out to Arturia support for assistance. I expect this will resolve easily as I had the same issue with a BSP and no problem. I’m just waiting to hear back, I sent them a photo of the underside of the 16rig this morning.

My concern is that my MacBook Air 2020 is not recognizing the 16rig. No idea why. It’s a slightly loose connection on the 16rig end using the Arturia USB cable…I can’t imagine that’s the issue. My Mac is functioning just fine…I was previously using the Tascam Model 12…which connects via USB. Could this have anything to do with the fact that it’s not registered?

I can’t use it DAWless because I can’t switch the monitor outs from usb to monitor. So I have an unusable 16rig at the moment. Any insights here? What am I missing? Thank you for any help!

Hey,

Sorry for the issue faced with your 16Rig.

The problem isn’t related with the unit registration.
I suggest you try to plug the device to another computer to see if it’s recognized.

Is the 16Rig A button turns white when it’s connected to the computer?

Also, could you confirm that you’ve installed the AudioFuse Control Center?

Bests,

HI, thanks for the response.

I connected the 16 rig to both my personal and work computer, both a 2020 MacBook Air. AFCC is downloaded on both computers. Neither connection works. The 16rig A button does not turn white when it’s connected to the computer. It remains blue. I know it’s not the cable, because it works with my phone.

Thanks for the clarification.

Hmm, it seems like the issue is on the 16Rig side.

Please try performing a factory reset on the unit before attempting to reconnect it. To do this, turn off the unit, then hold the INS + OUTS + A buttons on the front panel while turning it back on to see if that helps.

I’d also suggest contacting the retailer who sold you the unit—or better yet, checking with them—to confirm that the unit isn’t defective.

Keep me updated!

@Volnay Make sure you are using the latest version of the AFCC (currently 2.3.0.1184)

@Sean_W Yes…AFCC 2.3.0.1184 is installed…thank you!

Before I saw your response the A button turned white (after unplugging and replugging the cable multiple times) and I was able to update the firmware and set up routing in the AFCC. At one point it was recognized by the Audio MIDI Setup…then it was not…even with the A button white.

Added to that…the cable is extremely sensitive to laptop movement. Just moving the laptop a couple feet caused the connection to be lost. Multiple attempts to disconnect / reconnect fail. I then did the factory reset…and nothing. My routing is lost and the usb connection is not recognized. Unless there’s something I’m missing it seems like it should be returned?

Hmmm… I wonder who did the refurbishing…

Sounds like the USB-C port might be damaged. Possibly not completely refurbished, then.

If you get a new unit, rather than refurbished, you shouldn’t have any issues like this one.
