16Rig power

Hello,
I have my Rig16 in a rack, power cable plugged to a power conditioner. I am used to have my other gear swtiches always on, and so when i turn on the power conditionner, everythings is turning on.

Is it safe to fire up / turn on the Rig16 that way, or it is recommended to actually turn off the Rig16 switch before turning off the power conditioner, and same when opening, first power conditionner and then manually turning on the Rig16 with its own switch?

Hi @ottowyrth and welcome to The Sound Explorers Forum!

When you say ‘power conditioner’, are we talking mains ‘extention cable’ or a rackmount unit like a Furman power conditioner/distribution?

If the former, i’d power things up one at a time as they’re not the most reliable bits of kit and not really designed for audio recording purposes… If it’s the latter you should be fine, but it might be worth logging in to your account to contact our support team to see what they advise.

Also, the 16rig won’t turn on when you turn on your power conditioner; you’ll have to press the 16rig power button. It’s not a physical switch that keeps connection if it’s in the ON position, just a button that tells the firmware to boot up.

@Talahamut Thanks for the clarification, i don’t own one of those units.

Hello,
I’m talkiing a furman racked mounted power conditioner.

Hi @ottowyrth

As @Talahamut has stated above, the ‘power’ button on your 16Rig isn’t a physical ‘switch’ as such, it merely tells the unit to ‘wake up’.

So you’re going to have to ‘power up’ your 16Rig every time you turn your Furman power distribution unit on from the off state.
