16 rig: change audio sources going to phones in standalone

This either going to be a RTFM or I am missing something obvious (I did read the manual and searched online with no clear result…)

I am using a new 16 rig standalone (quick explanation - I am in the middle of a big project and do not want to swap out interfaces yet, so the 16 rig has not yet been connected to a computer) in order to test my input/output connections.

I am seeing the various synths i connected (signal) coming into the unit (meters moving, etc.) , but I cannot get an output to my headphones…this I suspect because the audio sources going to the headphones are USB play 1/USB Play 2.

Is there anyway to switch from USB play 1/2 in standalone? Am I missing something obvious or does standalone HAVE TO BE configured from a computer (kinda not really standalone then, I guess

School me in a blinding glimpse of the obvious (if you will) !

Correct. That is the default Factory preset.

In standalone mode, you have to use the internal mixers (main or cue mix) to combine the inputs for the monitors and headphones.
You can create a “Standalone” preset that you will be able to recall without being connected to a computer, but indeed, you have to be connected to the AFCC to create that preset first.
The mixers can be programmed from the front panel without a computer, but the AFCC is needed to change the signal source routing for the outputs from USB1/2 to Main or Cue mix, and save that as a preset in the AF16Rig.

Thanks so much for that clarity, Sean_W - you just saved me hours of banging my head against the wall

Guess I will have to delay my connections test until I swap out my interfaces on the computer…

Cheers

You only need to connect the AF16Rig to the computer to edit and save this “Standalone” preset (and maybe check that your AF16Rig firmware is up-to-date).
Once this preset is saved in the AF16Rig, you can disconnect it from the computer and use it in standalone mode with the mix of inputs going to the headphones.
