New forum… ok… however, I’m disappointed to see that there is no update on MiniFreak V since last year… there are numerous things that need to be fixed, but first and foremost, the patch management is lacking and buggy. I’ve had little (to no) success with the patch import / export functions and making a whole bank to offer to my fans seem also next to impossible. Please improve this situation!
Hey @C_Huelsbeck we’re glad to see you here!
We keep working to improve the presets browser and the patch import / export functions.

That is hopeful - if you are still working to improve it, theres ONE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT thing to fix; there’s no way to export a group of sounds without having to do it by creating a bank first to export the group. Problem is, when you create a bank, it automatically resorts all the patches alphabetically, which ruins our intended patch order. Any chance of this big oops being fixed soon?
You can export a selection of patches by first selecting them, right click the selection and choose “Copy to Bank” then “+NewBank” at the bottom of the list.
Thanks much but, once you create a bank, the bank re-sorts the patches from what you had, to alphabetical.
Correct. I am not quite clear on why you would want them presented in a particular order (like a playlist?). All I can suggest is prefixing each patch with a numbers and then they will sort numerically.
EDIT: Having thought more, you could set up a Playlist in Analog Lab and export that along with the patches. But that would mean users accessing the patches via AL as I cant see the Minifreak hardware supporting Playlists.
A lot of people are not happy that they created perhaps hundreds of patches on the MiniFreak, ordering them as they please, then exporting them changes the order to semi-alphabetical. (I say semi because numerals are reordered incorrectly, for example “100” would come before “1” etc). Particularly, when you export them to back them up, the order is now semi-alphabetical when you reimport them into the synth. “Where is my favorite #50 Piano”? for example.
Further, if you use the BACKUP section, it retains the order, yay! But WAIT - if you try to import that backup file on another computer, chances are big that you’ll have the “missing samples” glitch when trying to load them into the MiniFreak - even though you only used factory samples. This issue has been reported to Arturia - will they do anything about it? Hopefully, soon.
Second, people who make patches to give / sell have made a specific order (for exampl, pianos together in a group #60-#70, vintage basses in #250-#275 etc etc) but with no way to export them in that order for people who will import them. This is a widespread complaint in the 3rd party preset community.
I see where you are coming from. Personally, if I was to search for a particular sound - say Piano or Pad, which I dont normally do, I would use the Type categorisation. As long as they have been properly categorised of course. You can also filter searches on the Minifreak by Type. I hope Arturia are listening to your suggestions.
You can also filter by Type on the hardware by holding Shift and Preset Edit.
