My first ever synth (I gigged with it) in the 80s was a Korg MicroPreset M-500.
I discovered electronic music in the eighties, as a teacher of computer languages (C, LISP, PROLOG) and an amateur musician, I was thrilled. The DOS DAW Voyetra was quite popular.
No internet, no endless supply of free synths as you aptly put it.
Those that want to make their own sounds or tweak the sounds others have made.
I started on a used SQ-1, then a used VFX. Both had never been programmed! The owners of the shop were working musicians and did not have the time to program and tweak.
It can become almost an addiction rather than a necessity
Yes, that was my point. I have a good pension plan but I know younger (or older) musicians (amateur or pro) have to make hard choices. They should not fear missing on something if they canât buy a VST or a bank of presets.

Hello everyone,
Itâs been a while since I last posted on the forum, but Iâm still in transition mode.
For now, Iâm taking a more serious approach to getting my PC back in working order.
I had a problem with the Windows 10 update (resolved), then Native Access due to Daemon (resolved), and now I have free Dorico 6 (no big deal, I donât use it, but oh well).
Although I had the opportunity to upgrade to V Collection 11, I also took advantage of the promotion for _VC11 Expansions.
But itâs mainly for the preset library by Davide Puxeddu, who created _Floyd Tribute III.
For my part, Iâm not only happy to participate in the purchase but also to highlight the quality of his work. Furthermore, itâs always a real pleasure to follow him on YouTube for his excellent demonstrations, also highlighting his kindness .
If Arturia could allow us to find him more often in the Preset Banks or in demonstrations for our greatest pleasure (well, even if I speak primarily for myself, I know that many here appreciate Davide).
Musical Friendship.

Hi Pascal,
I agree entirely on Floyd Tribute III which I also bought and with Puxedduâs work appreciation in general.
The organs, the pianos and the multis are great. Iâm only missing a steel slide guitar.
There is one by Ample sound, but that would be pushing things too far.

To me Pink Floyd is More, Ummagumma and Echoes.

Hello everyone,
I just acquired Vangelis Tribute II produced by Paul Schilling and Iâm having a small problem with all the CS-80 V presets.
When I play on my Roland E-38 keyboard connected to my computer with the Roland UM-One cable, it works on the Analog Pro keyboard, but no sound comes out. All other presets outside of this bank work without any problem.
Itâs true that these presets were created using CS-V3.
Furthermore, this bank doesnât appear in version V4, which seems logical to me.
I would have at least liked, even if it meant manually transposing, for this bank to be included in version 4.
The sounds are present when I play the keys with the mouse.
I tried changing the ASIO drivers, but the problem persists.
Okay, on my other computer, the a-500S, thereâs no problem, but it only has 4 octaves and doesnât have the same feel as my e-38 with its 5 octaves.
Anyway, Iâm not disappointed because the presets are excellent, but still.
Cheers!
