I understand .adv is a Ableton Live preset.
I must understand that it’s saved at a point, perhaps without having the controller. I have no idea if this make a difference. But i would check if the controller is selected in the MIDI configs in the Arturia instruments right panel.
It was that: I saved the .adv devices with my old Keylab Essential MK2. Consequently, in the settings, the Keylab Essential is selected each time I load an .adv device.
If I change to Keylab MK3, it works as intended.
Now, I have a crucial question: do I have to resave all my +200 .adv with the right keyboard in the settings, or can I just select the Keylab MK3 as the default keyboard?
I will think so.
You can’t set a single default controller and MIDI config for all instruments.
Also i don’t know how Lives presets work.
But have’nt you checked by opening other presets? I suggest you just check it.
You don’t have to resave anything before you use a preset.
I already tried to open some Live presets, with different Arturia instruments. And I’m afraid that the MIDI config is saved within the Live preset. And this does override the MIDI settings already (and automatically) set and saved per VSTi. Consequently, I have to resave all of them (231 items), one by one, which is a pity.
It would be nice if the Arturia implementation detect the MIDI keyboard automatically, even if a DAW preset has been saved with another keyboard.
I noticed that the problem only appears for old presets.
My guess: if the racks were saved before the VSTi updates integrating the Keylab MK3 (around September 2024 IIRC), you have to resave them after switching the MIDI keyboard setting to your Keylab MK3. Otherwise, it’s okay.
I’ve sent an issue report to Arturia.
