Closing part of a mult-instrument crashes Studio One 4
« on: December 13, 2019, 08:18:25 am »
Repro:

1. Open Studio One 4.6.0 and load Arturia Lab 4.1.
2. Select the preset "Spirited Away".
3. Once it loads, select the X in the top right corner of the instrument "Synthwave Reverses" to "Clear Part 2".

Result: After a moment of the loader icon spinning, Studio One 4 will crash without any save/exit confirmation.
Impact: Users may lose significant composition progress or frequently restart their DAW.

Repro: 3/3

Hi and welcome to Arturia forums.

I can confirm that this happens in Studio One 3 too. Windows 10. So it look like an Analog Lab issue.

It seems to happen no matter which part in a multi you try to clear. Swap seems to work. And creating a new multi also seem to work, even if the second part is empty, when it's created.

I confirm this is an issue with Analog Lab 4.1
If I open Analog Lab standalone app on MacOS, then selecting mixer and using 2 presets. When I delete any of the presets the app will crash.

This happened to me on FL Studio 20 (20.6.1.1513). Closing part of a multi-instrument preset closed the plugin and took FL Studio with it!

Yes,happens too in Samplitude Pro X4
Analog Lab vst3/64bit
when deleting part of Multi ( X in right corner )..it crashes analog lab and samplitude
samplitude vanishes and crashes the audiodriver

So I'm not alone in this then.

Just started using AL4 with Keylab MKII a week ago. Discovered the Multi Mode today and started experimenting with 2 instruments. As soon as I try to 'Clear Part 1/2' everything crashes. Happens in the Standalone app and in the DAW (Live10).

So I just read the Analog Lab 4 Manual where they have specified how to use the Swap Mode. It actually works!

This means, it's critical to observe whether or not we are in Swap Mode. To try out different presets in multi mode we need to be IN swap mode. To switch to a single instrument ie. to get out of multi mode, we need to EXIT swap mode. To exit, just click on the 'swap' icon of the 1st/2nd part ONCE and then click on the MULTI button on your left. Now you're back to browsing single presets.

Whatever you do, stay away from the 'X' button ie. Clear Part button.

You are confusing the issue. Please read my reply above.

The issue is'nt above swap mode. It's about the clear mode. Swap and clear is 2 different things. You emphase the swap like that's the issue. But no one have said that.

There is an issue with clear/ Close a part.
Like you say:

That's excactly the issue. You should be able to clear the part and use that X button, so it's the bug, that you can't.

Yes, you're not wrong. I'm just trying to share a workaround. I know it is a bug because I got a response from a person at Arturia saying they are working on it.

Actually, I'm still facing the same crash within Ableton. My standalone version works perfectly though.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Have you checked, that the plugin is the newest version?

EDIT: I have a Ableton Live 10.1.7 LE installed on a laptop. I have just tested with Analog Lab both as VST2 and VST3 version without having this crash issue. EDIT END
