A question about filter FM
« on: December 23, 2019, 05:19:00 pm »
Hello! Using an engine as a source for filter FM, I was wondering why changing waveform/wavetable/sample didn't change the resulting modulation. I guess this routing only takes the tuning of the selected engine and modulates the filter with a sine.

I know this is a design choice. Would this kind of modulation be added in the future?

Loving Pigments so far. I wanted to say congrats on the granular engine, the best I have heard.

Cheers!

Hi and welcome to Arturia forums.

Each of the 3 modules in the Engines have a modulation/ modulator section. You can use the waveforms in those sections to be a part of the modulation of a filter, when that engine is chosen as modulator for the filter.
For the Analog module it's the waveform of OSC 3 you can select. The Modulators in the Wavetable and Sample modules have it's own waveform selectors named Wave.

But it could also be amazing, if the full output of the engine could be used for filter modulation. That could give some organic modulation.
