Analog 4 Midi Map problem
« on: September 26, 2019, 05:56:41 pm »
Using Ableton 10.1, Korg NanoKontrol2, Analog Lab 4.0.5

I want to use my nano key to scroll through presets but can't seem to get it working.

I've clicked 'Midi Controller' then set controller as 'Generic midi controller' then hit learn and 'enter assign mode', clicked the next preset button, which pops up another window saying its waiting for a midi message., but when i press my nanokontrol nothing happens.

Nanokontrol works fine with other plugins and ableton.

Any ideas how to solves this?

Thanks

1. Are your Analog Lab fully updated to 4.0.5.3023? - I assume you are, but just in case as i don't remember the excat number for the previous version.
2. What happens if you map your Analog Lab in standalone mode?
3. I don't know about Ableton Live, but have you mapped your controllers controls for an internal control system? If i do that in Studio One, then the controls can't be used for MIDI learn, but need to be assigned using the DAWs internal system.

You don't have to hit "Enter Assign Mode" to assign a control for navigating presets. You can just hit the individual "Learn" buttons beside the 6 listed parameters - "Navigate through presets", "Select preset" and so on...

Yes fully updated.

Tried standalone and its the same, can't map anything.

I've tried using abletons mapping system and the arturia one, neither works. Ableton see's the midi messages coming from the korg so i know its working.

I'm not sure if its the Korg control editor that could be at fault.

But you say your controller work with other plug-ins. Is'nt that with using MIDI learn? If not, then i would test the controllers MIDI output.

EDIT: I was thinking - Which MIDI CCs are you using? Some are reserved in Analog Lab and can't be freely assigned. EDIT END

SOLVED! If it helps anyone else in future -

It seems i had to open the Korg control editor and put the device into CC mode, not 'Live' mode. I think in Live mode it acts as a control for transport and fader functions etc, pan etc...So i put it in CC mode, using CC numbers 38 and 70 to go up and down presets and it works just fine!

Great. It's good to know it was about how to use your controller in your DAW with this functionality.
