Portamento Midi Sync button
« on: June 04, 2019, 05:49:59 pm »
I think a Midi Sync option for the Portamento Duration Slider would be a nice feature.

I'm programming a sound for a Rush song, and the Portamento Slider is difficult to work with.
If it were synced with midi, I think this would solve a lot of issues.

In the image below, I photoshopped a mock "Midi Sync" button near what I'm talking about.
When it is active, the Portamento slider range would then step through different note multiples/fractions of the beat.

I'm thinking for a 1/4 note, the Portamento duration would be a quarter of the BPM.

Also, Portamento movement rate seems fixed.  Can it be a function of the distance to the next note divided by the Portamento time duration?

When would someone want a fixed movement rate?

Is there a way to mimic this proposed feature using some of the other controls?
Maybe I'll try Garagebands smart controls and Pitch Bend?

Like I'm actually programming it FOR Rush the band. Their new album!
No I'm just kidding.
That would be cool, though.

I kinda achieved what I was looking for using the Pitch Bend slider.
