Permanent backlight glow for controls
« on: January 10, 2019, 06:46:43 pm »
Hi anyone,
i received my KeyLab 49 MK2 today. Its really an awesome controller.

However, i already have one simple idea and wish for a feature:
Is it possible to get an option to always backlight/dim the controls?

Obviously its already implemented on some controls, as my transport controls and the mode-selection permanently lights up dimmed.
But the rest of the controls is just dark.
Especially on the pad controls and the channel/category select button on the right, this would improve orientation a lot when your not working in bright daylight.

Would be cool to get a feedback on my idea ;-)
Thanks for your attention

+1 for this.

I bought the controller for both studio and stage use.

On a dark stage, in user mode, illuminating buttons that you've assigned controls to helps you do your job.

You've got awesome rgb LED's in there, please let us use them!  If they are only on when pressed, they are under my fingers, and I can't see them anyway.  An illumination option in the Midi Control Center config panel for the control would make much better use of the hardware.  I'd gladly throw some software development hours at it if it's a resource issue.  I do embedded dev, hit me up!

Having worked in product development, the company answer normally goes:

We have logged your feature request, but can not comment on future product developments.

Thank you for your feedback

Exactly this....and an option for pad lighting in off state. I also own an Akai MPK2 series controller and the off state lighting is a very valuable asset in knowing what is on each pad at a glance. The button backlight should also have options for color both in off state and active state. This would add value to the device and greatly aid in workflow and productivity.

...and PLEASE find some other method beyond captcha to secure the forums...I think that component keeps a lot of people away who may have useful information to share. I have lowered visual acuity and it gives me FITS

I just picked up a Keylab 88 MkII and it has always-on pad lighting as an option in MIDI Control Center.

Yep, the option was finally added in the latest firmware update from octobre, which came out a few days after my last post.

It's great that it has finally been implemented, but now you notice the colour choice is very limited to a set of quite unpleasant colours. Since all the other panel buttons are illuminated white, it would be great if they added white as an option for the pads. They light up white on startup so it's obviously possible.

I have a MK11 KeyLab 49 and this pads backlight control does not seem to work at all?
Has anyone tried to get this always on function to work?
I ca only get the pads to light on Toggle, rather than Gate, but as soon as you press the pad it turns the backlight off of course.
Anyone with any ideas?
