SOLVED: Potential Problems with Drum Pads
« on: December 18, 2018, 10:39:26 pm »
Hi,

New Arturia controller user. Got the Essential 61 and it works well aside from a potential issue with the pads. I'm hoping the issue is actually down to me, not the machine :)

When I turn the keyboard on, pad 3 and 4 always stay lit up, and flash a little, as if they're being triggered a billion times a second :) I have to select the Analog Lab pad or the DAW pad via the channel selector to get rid of this. The first few times I turned it on I couldn't get rid of it at all, but that seems better now.

Also, pads 3, 4, and 8 seem basically non-responsive, though I can sometimes get the ghost of a note from pad 3 when used to trigger midi.

So, I'm wondering if I need to edit the pads either in the Midi Control Center or elsewhere. Or, if there is something more problematic going on here.

Any assistance greatly appreciated :)

Cheers!

Hi,

Is it possible for you to make a short video clip of the issue so I can properly uderstand what is going on ?
You can try to perform a factory reset by holding Oct+ and Oct- while powering up the unit and see if it solves the issue.

matthieu

Thank you.

I will try to do that in the next day or so. Not at home much this week :)

PS - tried the reset but it's the same, and the 3 pads still don't do anything.

Hello Matthieu,

I have linked to a super short video to try to illustrate the points I mentioned above. I'm not the best cameraman in the world, admittedly, but I think you can see what I mean. It's a 'private' Youtube link, I hope that works for you. Here's the link (edited for a better video!)

Thank you again for your assistance :)

It's because you made the video private. Private videos can only be seen by you. The clue is in the name.

My bad.

I figured that it would be fine if I was the one who was sharing the link to the  'private' video, but I guess not!

I shall start again. Here's the link again. Hope it works this time. I've made it public for now.

Sorry about that, and thanks for the assistance :)

Hi again,

Hum... unfortunately it seems to be an hardware issue... maybe a connector is slightly disconnected on the pad board. There is not much I can do here to help you I'm afraid.

I would suggest you to contact our support services (https://www.arturia.com/support/askforhelp), they will get back to you shortly but keep in mind that Christmas is coming so delays could be a little more longer. Or you can get in touch with your reseller to have a replacement unit if you did not buy the product on our website.

Regards,

Matthieu

To do that, set it as 'unlisted' not 'private'.

Hi Matthieu,

Thank you! I am in Japan, so I'll contact Rakuten and let them know. Hopefully, they can get a replacement for me.

Cheers, MajorFubar, noted for future reference.

Thanks for the prompt responses as well, truly appreciated :)

You are still under waranty so there is no reason not to get a replacement. Sorry for this inconvenience and I hope you'll be happy with your next unit.

Matthieu

Hi,

No worries. Thanks for the help, not sure I would have worked it out on my own. The dude from Mark's Midi here in Osaka (reseller through Rakuten) said I can send it back and they'll check it.

Was thinking of getting the V collection with Pigments. Probably still will, but may wait until the Controller comes back, or I get a new one. Pigments looks interesting, and I've had a taste of the Easel and a few others through Analog Lab 3 now!

Cheers,

Hello,

Just dropping by to say thanks again for your assistance with this. The seller here in Osaka sent a new keyboard this morning, and it seems to be working fine. The drum pads are responsive, there don't seem to be any weird glitches, and it didn't even need setting up in the DAW (I use Mulab 7).

What's also nice is that I got hold of V Collection and Pigments, so that's me done for the day :)

Think I'll start with the CMI... :) Time to start in on the ambient(ish) album.

Anyway, thanks again for taking a look at the keyboard for me, Matthieu,  it was most helpful.

Cheers!
