I want to use the Transports buttons in Cakewalk Sonar.
« on: December 09, 2018, 06:56:51 am »
Hello?
I am an KEYLAB 61 MKii user.
I want to use the Transoirts button and various knobs on Cakewalk Sonar.
However, the Cakewalk Sonar control surface setting does not have KEYLAB 61 MKii.
What should I do?

Hi,

You have to set the KeyLab MKII as an MCU (Mackie Control) device inside Sonar. Use the 2nd MIDI Port of the KeyLab in the In and Out section. Then on your KeyLab MK2 set the DAW Mode to MCU (long press on the DAW button to change the mode).

Regards,

Matthieu

Hi Matt!

Do I do the same thing with MainStage?

Thanks!

To fix the master volume (right most cursor) only controlling the right side,
also open the bottom item in Cakewalk "Utility" menu and set the
"Master Fader" field on the bottom left to "Bus"  "1"  instead of "Master" "1"

Note that some control buttons will still not work but this is a known issue on Cakewalk MCU support.

Hello Markus, how did you do that exactly? I have the same configuration as you. Current MK2 and latest version of Cakewalk. I still can't get it to work. Are we the only ones with such a combination??? Why are there no XML/ACT files for the awesome Keylab MK2?

Hi there.  I have a Keylab 88 MkII and use Cakewalk as well.  I determined that the MCU/HUI control methods were not enabling all the capabilities of the MkII controller, so I did some research and it seems using the AZ Controller generic surface plug-in is the way to go.  I spent some time getting it working decently for the MkII (transport, faders, knobs, some other function buttons).  It is incomplete but I've uploaded my plugin config here in case you want to try it.  There are a few different presets but the "User DAW" one is what I had spent the most time on.

AZ Controller: http://www.azslow.com/index.php?action=downloads;cat=1

Cakewalk .spp file attached.  Give it a try to see if it works, and if you improve upon it please let me know.
