Latch on pattern matrix, for easy pattern changes
« on: November 29, 2018, 06:30:23 am »
Hi there Arturia, happy MatrixBrute owner for a year here, it's been a fantastic instrument.  In working with the sequencer, even well crafted short loops get repetitive pretty quick (to the sober listeners).  I've been trying transposing the patterns with the left hand, and changing patterns in the matrix with the right, to do a little fill, or turnaround, or variation, or change major to minor to keep in key.  The problem is, you have to hold PATTERN down and then press the matrix, hard to do with one hand.

The requested feature would be a latch on the pattern button, where you can keep the pattern matrix up, and perform with it.  Maybe you tap the PATTERN button, and the matrix pattern stays up, you switch patterns all you want, until you hit pattern again, or one of the big round rubber buttons (PRESET, SEQ, or MOD), to switch back to the regular matrix.  If you held the pattern button down, maybe it acts the same as now, you exit the pattern matrix when you let up on the pattern key.  The pattern button light could blink, or something, if it was deemed possibly confusing that the latch was left on.  Or, the PRESET, SEQ, and MOD buttons could go dark.

If it didn't work to just tap the PATTERN button to leave the pattern matrix up, maybe it could be a double tap, to latch it.

Thanks for listening!

I just noticed there is a lens for an led, in the pattern button. It never lights up, though. Does that mean the infrastructure is there for a light? It lights up for an instant when you turn the MatrixBrute on.
