Transpose Settings/ Transport Mode

In MCC there is the transpose settings. Does transport mode actually work when set to off? I am using my new keystep with my mother32. I don't want any of the mother32's sequences to start up. When I push play on the keystep the mothers sequence always starts even though I have transport mode set to off. What gives?

Apparently the Mother32 cannot be set to not run when it receives a start message via MIDI.  Perhaps send the Pitch CV out on the Keystep to the Mother32's Pitch CV in and don't connect them via MIDI at all.
