[Solved] KeyLab Essential 49 not recognised as input
« on: November 02, 2018, 11:06:42 pm »
Hey.

I recently bought the following keyboard that is named in the title. It isn't showing up as a input, which means that i can't use it as DAW controller (i'm using Logic Pro X 4.2 & macOS 10.13). When i stick the USB cable in my computer, the keyboard lights will turn on. It will even work with plugins. BUT it isn't being recognised as a audio input device, as my old MIDI controller was. When i open ''Audio MIDI Setup'' from ''Applications > Other'', it isn't showing up in ''Audio Devices''. But if i click ''Window > Show Midi Studio'', it's there. It needs to be as Audio input in my computer so i can have access into the DAW controller with this keyboard!

Please help me ASAP so i can get into work!

Thanks.

My computer recognises it as MIDI but not as USB. The USB recognisation is needed! Please help me if you can.

Hi,

If the KeyLab Essential is recognize by standalone plugins and by the MIDI Studio, it means that it is properly working. I think this is more a configuration issue or a misunderstanding of how this works.

The KeyLab Essential can't be recognize as an audio input device because this is a MIDI controler, it does not produce sound on its own. So I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve here. Why do you need it to be an "audio input in my computer" ? This is not possible.

If you want it to controler your DAW (in your case Logic) please, follow the step described here : https://www.arturia.com/faq/keylabessential/keylab-essential-tips-tricks

It worked. I followed the instructions. I was just little confused because my old MIDI keyboard was working differently. Anyway, thanks!
