Synclavier v2 - Any way to filter for the New Patches?
« on: October 13, 2018, 03:11:07 am »
Hi

Is there any way to check out just the new patches in Synclavier v2, or are they all mixed in? I can't find any bank or filter that says that a patch uses samples.

Thanks
Richard

No. That would have been good. Perhaps it's a fault we can't.

I think the presets from the designers Indie Moon, Simon Galifet and Raynald Dantigny are new. Not all are using the new sample and resynthesis option. You can sort for those designers. But not for sample/ resynthesis presets in this version, and it might be a fault.

Can't tell if there are more new presets.

Here we go. I have two boot partitions on my MacPro cheesegrater here. I have the VCollection 5 on both partitions; I only updated the partition that is OSX 10.12.6. I did that because my other partition which is OSX 10.10.5 is something I don't want to muck around with for reasons not pertinent here. I looked through both installs of Synclavier and here's what I found (the first number is what in Synclavier 2 and the second is in the original Synclavier install). For example 7/3 would be 7 patches in Synclavier 2 and the 3 would be 3 patches in the original Synclavier.
Here we go
overall number of patches 646/476
Bass patches 75/60
Brass patches 15/13
Keys patches 101/78
Lead patches 62/38
Organ patches 23/16
Pad patches 153/101
Percussion patches 23/23 (no change)
Seq patches 94/71
SFX patches 74/63
Strings patches18/11
Synth patches 1/1 (no change)
Templates 11/1
Note that this is just for the Factory library. One way I think to find out the patches that use samples/resynthesis is to call up each one (ugh!) and look in the SCR screen to see if a sample list shows in the sample window of the gui.
This does not excuse Arturia from fixing this mess. Like I said in another thread here the tutorial video Arturia has on their site and YouTube the presenter refers to a 'samples' category.

edit note: changed NI to Arturia; apologies for doing that

Well I went and did it - went through every freakin' patch to search for what patches used samples. Note that with the one exception of the Sample and Syntheses patch in Pads which has a sample in Partial 3 I didn't go below just looking at the first partial. I ain't that masochistic. Feel free to add to this list and share as needed. I did not yet create my own 'Samples' category. I'm waiting for Arturia to come back with an answer on this (if they ever do or care). Also interesting is that evewn though the Percussion category has the same number of patches as the first Synclavier there's a patch that uses samples.

So these are the new designers or what? I ask because a number of the patches that show under the designer's names don't use the sampling/resynthesis new features.

Yes that's the whole list of new patchs in V2 and you're right, not all patchs use the sample and resynthesis function. Some sound designers are new but some already created ones in the first version of Synclavier.

I have reported the request to have a special category with presets using samples. ;)
