ASSIGNING MORE THAN 16 DRUM ELEMENTS TO DRUM PAD
« on: September 05, 2018, 04:41:48 pm »
Hi there,

Elvis here from France, running Pro Tools 12 with an Mbox Pro 3 and now Beat Step Pro.

I can't find anywhere (and it must be really easy) but I want my beat step pro to control a lot of drum plugins that I have in ProTools so I can control those with the BSP.
For example, BFD 3. The thing is that a simple BFD 3 kit has more than 30 nuances (2 for a kick, more than 10 for hit hats (open, close, half open etc etc...).

So is there a way to assign all those elements to the pads (maybe with several banks I can switch from or switching the midi notes of all the pads together like shifting 16 notes above or below..)?

I would make my life more beautiful.

Thanks a lot to all

Cheers

Salut Elvis,

Don't know if you speak french so I answer here in english. Feel free to answer in french if it's easier for you as it is for me.

I think the best way to do that is to use the 16 midi channels. On the BSP you can change the midi channel on the fly.

Depends on how the BFD 3 is working but maybe you can map each instrument to be triggered with different velocity amount.
For instance kick one will be triggered when velo below 64 is received and kick 2 when more than 64.

Hope this helps

Ben

Par defaut seq 1 => Channel 1 seq 2 => Channel 2 et Drum seq => Channel 10.
