Spark2 new 2.4.0... where are my sound banks ?
« on: June 08, 2018, 09:46:07 pm »
Well well well...on windows 7 64bits, just after the update to the new 2.4.0, no sounds banks anymore...
The Library, without asking, is gone back to "Documents\Spark Libray"
Ok...
Well, I just have to change it in the Prefs page... but oh nooo, no more possibility to change this in this version.

Hum, it must be somewhere...
Run regedit, go to HKCU\software\arturia\spark, edit hte LIB_PATH key and set it to your current spark library path (something like d:\arturia\spark 2\spark library), restart Spark2... tadammm

Take one year more for the next update... or hire a quality control manager.

Hi ben arturia,

Just take a look at the Arturia Software Center, there's something called "silent install".
This is my config for the last 3 years, nothing seems to be a problem for the V4 and the V5 so far... and spark2 belongs to V4.
So, the update of this version goes through the same process... silent update.

Have I missed the "text box" in the pref page to set the custom library path too ? I double check : no !
Why removing something that is useful, and on the other hand, keep something that completely bullshit like the "Midi import" section ?
(I know, Arturia has a very personal interpretation of the Midi specification born in the 80ies)

Maybe the developers at Arturia should know there product better ?
Maybe the management should give them more time to know there product...
Maybe they should focus on doing things well (and I am not talking about advertisement here, Arturia's got 5 stars for that)
But that is completely different debate, not really something you can do about it  ;D

I'll finished with one word, that, when you have some experience or read this forum, will characterize Arturia so well : disappointment.

Have a nice day and good luck in your job.

Hello John.

Thanks for your kind message.

Indeed, in case you moved the library somewhere else than the default location, Spark 2 will not see it after the update.
There is a locate function in Spark2, but it hasn't been prompted because Spark is locating the library that has been reinstalled during the update, but not your custom library.

As a workaround, all what you have to do is:

1/ Delete the default spark library that has been reinstalled by the update in the default folder.
The default Spark Library paths are the following:
  • Mac OS: /Library/Arturia/Spark/Spark Library
  • Windows: C:\Users\<user_name>\Documents\Spark Library
2/ Start Spark 2: you will be prompted with the locate pop up.

3/ From this pop-up, point the Spark Library you were using before the update.

Once it's done, everything should be back in order.

I wish you a very nice and pleasant day, along with a good luck in your music projects.

Edouard
