About decay start function

It is a problem that It has decay start function at the function of reverberation.
Why is it despite the function which has a big influence on the tone?
Why is it room setup?
 Personally, I think that it should be an independent function.
I want to add a decay setting to the setting of the piano itself.

What you're asking is a Decay parameter on the sound of the piano itself, right ?

The best bet would be to use the soundboard resonance parameter as it has the biggest impact on the decay of the sound of the Piano.
The sound of the Piano V being completely physically modelled, just adding a decaying envelope on each note is not something that is easy to do, nor that would sound realistic.

One thing, perhaps obvious, that I discovered about the Reverb's Decay Start control: It has a more pronounced effect if only the closest mics are active. If unmuted, the more distant mics continue to pick up the reverb tail, and changing the Decay Start makes little audible difference, as far as I can hear.
