Overdub note w/o replacing it or extending the sequence
« on: June 24, 2017, 03:33:09 pm »
I'd like to request this feature mentioned in the Technical Question subforum:

https://forum.arturia.com/index.php?topic=88258.0

This is very handy for recording notes in realtime.
I have in my mind to make a empty sequence of 8 steps for example
and "filling" this sequence first with some chords and on top recording
a lead line w/o deleting, replacing notes entered before or to extend
the sequence of 8 steps (in this example).

+1 for overdub live recording!

aremdbus, you extend the recording by using append mode.  Press Shift + Record to set the recording to append.
Currently running https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/1311723 / www.modulargrid.net, sequencing with KSP and recording with a Zoom (no DAW involved, for better or worse ;) )

I'm glad you like to have this feature as well, megamarkd.
Thanks for your help in extending the sequence, but this was not
what I wanted to achieve, as I tried to explain in my opening post.
I already figured out that there's "append" function in the KS which I appreciate.
I like to have a looped sequence going and add notes to it within the sequence.
Alot sequencers have a overdub feature and when it is still in overdub mode
I can add and add more notes to the structure...often very inspiring, especially
when you're performing or jamming!

Hope to see Arturia is coming with a firmware update for this.

+1 here

The ability of overdubbing! And maybe combined with the ability to clear the overdub recorded last, something like an "undo". So instead of adding in length there should also be adding on top, and instead erasing in length there should be erasing the last overdub recorded! That would be great!

I would like to insist.. Overdubbing would be a great feature.. the possibility to add new notes to an existing sequence, not at the end, but inside the sequence ..

I made a login just to say that this is a feature i hoping to have straight out of the box. It seems obvious to be able to record more notes over the existing sequence, since it is polyphonic after all!!! 8 possible notes per step??? it's just begging for an overdub/layering feature. I would also second the suggestion of an "undo last addition" button. If you layered the wrong note on accident it'd be nice to not have to start over. I very sincerely hope this happens!!! With all of the amazing updates to the Beatstep pro, i am developing a great faith in Arturia :)
