There are a lot of sounds (and presets) I like in the Origin Desktop. Would this work with the matrixbrute operating as a controller. Midi?

Yes, the MatrixBrute will work as a MIDI controller for the Origin. You will have to use the MIDI Control Center software to configure the MIDI settings of the MxB,
