USB noise problem
« on: May 13, 2017, 01:59:03 pm »
Hi,

I have a Drumbrute, a Keystep and a Beatstep Pro. All three synced through the clock ports. All three are connected through USB with a powered USB hub, which in turn is connected to an iPad or iPhone for playing soft synths using the camera connection kit. All machines are also connected via Midi to a Midi patchbay to control the hardware synthezisers.

It all works like a charm, but I hear a high noise (kind of a fluctuating high note) when I connect the iPad or iPhone via the camera kit. Note that the I use the ground loop adapter of the Beatstep Pro, on one side connected to a USB charger, on the other side to the Hub to drive the synths.

It looks like a kind of ground noise.

Anyone has any ideas how to get rid of this sound?

Thanks for helping.

I've found that using a power board with a USB power hub, I also get noise.  I've gone back to using a USB powerpoint adaptor.
Currently running https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/1311723 / www.modulargrid.net, sequencing with KSP and recording with a Zoom (no DAW involved, for better or worse ;) )
