Is this midi connection even possible?
« on: March 28, 2017, 05:56:55 pm »
Hello everyone  :)

I have a MicroBrute, DrumBrute and an old Casio CT-680 keyboard.

I'm trying to connect them together so that when I press play on DrumBrute, MicroBrute would also start playing a sequence. I believe this is called syncing them? The Casio would only be used as a keyboard for MicroBrute.

The Drumbrute has MIDI IN and MIDI OUT
The MicroBrute has MIDI IN
The Casio has MIDI IN, MIDI OUT and MIDI THRU

From what I've read, one of these devices has to to set as master and others as slaves. But how should I assign channels to the devices? Should Casio and MB transmit on the same channel that DB is listening on?

I now have DB (MIDI OUT) connected to Casios (MIDI IN) and Casios (MIDI OUT) connected to MB (MIDI IN). I'm able to play MB via the Casio, but it won't sync to DB.  ::)

Or could i just use mono cable from DB (CLOCK OUT) to MB (GATE IN)? This is all so confusing  :P

Thanks in advance  :)
