midi syncing in ableton - a bug, and a fix
« on: April 23, 2017, 11:59:40 pm »
Hey

So - i want to create stuff on my mb, and record them as loops in ableton.

I had big issues getting this to work, first there was the actual sync; go to preferences -> audio -> and find overall latency; copy that number.

Go to your track, with external instrument in etc, doubleclick on it - at the external instrument box in the bottom of the screen, set your hardware latency to what you found before - you can type it in.

Now, this should have worked, but whenever i hit record something was off.

My setup is simple, one track, external instrument - i either record some notes by playing, or i input some notes in ableton - then i setup an audio track for resampling, then i hit record in ableton, ableton starts, fires off my notes/loop, and the audio resamples it.

But something was off - the sample was ever so slightly off, in a way i could not correct.

Then i did the same procedure, but this time before hitting record, i turned midi sync OFF on the MB.

Now - the sample is perfect, loops absolutely beautifully.

So .. dont know why this is happening, but for me this is the way forward for the moment; thought someone might like to know!
