Perfectly in tune has weird phase 'locked' sound.
« on: June 18, 2016, 01:34:26 am »
Hi
Identical to this thread
http://forum.arturia.com/index.php?topic=87770.0

When using Template Single  and zone mode to 'Reset' (to isolate voice 1) the waveforms tuned to unison will change each time it's tuned, and when sync is enabled/disabled, the sound of 'locked' does not change, until another parameter is changed.

Same as the issue on Mini V3.
Not apparent in Modular v3 or 2600 v3.

It's referred to in this SOS review, third paragraph of 'In Use'

" Rather than drift gently, the oscillators are initialised and their relative phases locked each time a patch is selected, and what I was hearing was almost perfect phase cancellation on that one voice. I have been criticising this method of imitating drift since I first encountered it when reviewing the Jupiter 8V in 2007, and it should have been discarded by now — not just by Arturia but by all the software writers who use it."

Using 'template Single', each voice in 'Rotate' sounds quite different, even when they're all set up identically. Still a disconcerting issue in 2.0.4.1120

Unfortunately bad phase behavior is quite common in the VC-5 applications when two OSC's is tuned equal. It's very easy to hear when two oscilators both for example is using Saw waveform and are tuned equal.
It really has to be fixed, because it means a sound that at any time is in a phase where the oscilators is in a equal tuning, the sound will sound very wrong, thin and bad.

Perhaps it happens because a internal latency somewhere in the applications is too high.
