Keystep 4ms CV lag
« on: July 12, 2016, 09:34:16 am »
Hi there,

I noticed that the CV out lags about 4ms behind the gate out going high. this means that when e.g. running into a module that samples the CV value triggered by the gate it will sample the last note value instead - that's actually how I noticed it.

I understand that the lag is due to the actual hardware design, but would there be a way to delay the gate until CV is stable?

yes, i am also noticing a lag on the pitch cv out.

i didn't do any measurements, but i found there to be an audible (if very short) glissando/portamento effect when playing octaves above 2v. so: 0v-1v and 1v-2v sound ok to my ears, but from 2v-3v upwards, i'm hearing a noticable lag on the pitch cv.

can others confirm that this is present on their units?

i guess delaying the gate signal would indeed help to hide this effect - as long as you use the cv and gate outputs as a pair to trigger one and the same synth voice. if you use them independently on a modular synth, the lag would still be there...
