ASC crashing in Yosemite with VC4
« on: December 05, 2014, 02:30:28 pm »
Hello I opened a ticket a couple days ago but got no help and it is becoming urgent as I will be traveling soon so I need VC4 activated on my MBP.

ASC just crashes when I open it. See attached screen shot.

I have tried uninstal,  re-install, did not work.

Any suggestion would be most welcome.

Hi There

I'm experiencing the exact same problems.

Running MBP 15" 2.66 i7 with Yosemite.

Installed the new Anaolg Lab update this week and since then it has been saying my product is unregistered and have not been able to open ASC since it just crashes every time.

Have uninstalled & re-installed, re-downloaded the update file to make sure that wasn't corrupted, checked folder permissions.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I am also experiencing the same problem. I have submitted a request for support but they have offered no solutions.

Was facing the same problem on my Macbook Pro 15" (late 2011) and not only with Yosemite but also with my Mavericks installation that I kept on my old hard drive.
That made me wondering what those two systems may have in common because the Yosemite is a fresh install except for my users folder.
So I tried the ASC with a second user account (I set up an Administrator account when I did the install and was importing my normal user account in the later process), hoping that it made a change. And it did. ASC was running without problems.
It turned out that the problem is the permission settings of the user folder. ASC tries to create a folder 'updatemanager' directly in your user folder. Unfortunately the user rights seemed to be more restricted for my normal user account than for the new adminstrator account, although the settings look identical (checked it in the terminal).

Anyway. So here are two solutions how to make ASC work:

1. Create a new user in the settings and switch to that user everytime you have to register an Arturia product. The registration is done for every machine and not for every user.
2. Create the folder updatemanager by yourself. Go to your account folder and try to create it. The system will ask you for admin permission (the way it asks if you are installing software).

Both methods worked for me.

Regards,
Rince

Thanks a lot.

I select my user folder. Right click, "Unlock" and boom ASC is updating now.  :)

I am also getting crashing. Running 10.10 (Yosemite) on a 2010 MBP 2.66 i7

Update Manager folder already exists in my user folder.

I went to that folder and provided admin access to it, which fixed the crash.

Creating the file update manager and making sure permissions allow to read & write worked for me, thanks!

Hello,

The update 1.0.3 should fix these issues.

It removes the need for the 'updatemanager' folder, and doesn't crash anymore when trying to scan a plug-in without the proper permissions.

You just need to re-launch the ASC and it will automatically update.

If you experienced the crash on launch (and therefore your ASC will not auto-update), you can download it from here:
http://www.arturia.com/support/updates&manuals

Sorry for the inconvenience.
