stuart,
The interface is equivalent to a computer?  I thought it was just semi-complex input-output device.  What is a Spark moderator?  Do you work for Arturia?  Thank you.

I mean that the device is useless on its own, it needs a computer. When it was developed it was made to meet a certain criteria. Since then things have moved on and it's not viable to support it anymore.

In the last few years devices have been made class compliant, meaning that they don't nessecarily need drivers specific to the device.

I dont work for arturia, I moderate the forum for Spark, send in bug reports to arturia, beta test etc

Thanks, Stuart

You're missing the point Stuart and I are trying to make - the hardware might still be okay but the software to support it in newer operating systems doesn't exist. And like I wrote there have been major improvements made in interface design and build since your Tascam hit the market. Generally interfaces today are way better in design and sound. You probably have no idea how poor your Tascam sounds compared to today's interfaces and you don't need to spend a lot of money. As much as I liked my Edirol UA1000 when I got my Avid 11 Rack interface I couldn't believe how clear things sounded with it compared to the UA1000.

Hardware needs software to work with a computer and computer operating systems change such that old software is no longer able to run. Face it - you're going to have to make some major upgrades to your computer system to run modern software. Either that or you're looking at a new computer and refurbs from the Apple Store are very good.

Jack, this is probably meant for aaron aardvark. I don't have the Tascam. But yes, we are basically talking about the same thing.

Thanks, Stuart
