Yes it may be.

Connect Origin to a computer, open a MIDI app (e.g. Audio MIDI Setup on a Mac) and check if the OS recognises Origin. If it doesn't this could be a jumper around the USB controller which is unplugged (best case) or a hardware problem (worst case).

To determine it, stay in front of Origin. Open the machine (you may need a special screw driver, screws are located in the front and in the back), carefully lift the upper part of the mechanics (the panel where all knobs, switches.... are located). Be careful here, there are cables inside tied to this panel so just lift it up  a little and put it on its back behind Origin. Then look at the upper left corner of the main board, near the power plug. There's a large flat cable going to the front panel. Behind this cable, on the left of a rectangular circuit you should find a jumper. Check that this jumper is well in position.

You could also check the external power supply if you can put your hand on a voltmeter. By the way, NEVER EVER use a power supply with different specs than the original one: 6.5V, 3.85A.

Tell me the result of your experimentation.

OK, I checked everything as adviced.
So the Jumper is there and there are no visible hint about any defective part.

Then I read your post till the end, and tested the external power supply. This one delivers 0V either connected to the Origin or not. So now I have to find a replacement part. Looks like this part is the only one defective (I hope so).
Strange that it died suddenly.
Can you provide such parts or at least any advice to get one meeting the Origin's specs ?

We can provide a power supply. You'll be contacted by David from the support to arrange that.
