skip VCA or keep it open
« on: June 13, 2011, 12:57:21 am »
Hello world:)

First I'm happy because I received my origin, youpi !

so I try to reproduce some patchs that I made with the ARP vst, and I can't keep the VCA open like you can do with the vst when you skip it.

is someone have a idea?

Nico :)

One method is to use the sequencer. Set it to 1 step and start it. The sequencer doesn't even need to be connected to any parameters, nor does it need a trigger set - as long as it's running, the sound will continuously get through to the outputs.

The CV modulator can be set to a bias. Just apply that to the Volume and it should be open all the time.

Care to elaborate on that method, Cord?

I tried connecting a CV Modulator to the AM input of the Out module, but I still can't get audio out of the Origin unless I have a keyboard/MIDI note on or the sequencer is running.

@DJ
I tried but I doing probably something wrong
I set the sequencer to 1 step and push the play/stop button and... nothing if I dont touch the keyboard. (or if I put the sequencer to Autostart on the setting menu 2, but I can't set the autostart just for the preset...)

In fact I wonder if my problem is here. I explain myself :
In the patch(mono+glide+legato on)  I have a ADSR which control the cutoff of a Filter (LP totally closed). The release is long.
If I play legato, there is no problem.
But if it's not, if I play another note during the release, There is a pop. I thought that was the VCA but I'm not shure. the trig send the ADSR at the begining without fade out and the VCA or the filter make a pop...

if I wanted try with the vca open and see if the filter do a pop, but If make another problem for solve the first... ??? :-[

OK, so you're really looking for a way to 'cure' a pop in a certain sound. I assume it's a monophonic sound since you're playing legato. If that is the case then it could be the retriggering of the envelope that creates the pop. You can check if any of the envelopes are using the very fastest times. If they are, reducing the time a tiny bit may get rid of the pop.

Did it make a difference when you used the sequencer to keep the voice running? My guess is that it probably didn't, in which case you may cure it by using adjusting envelope times as described above.

BTW, it might be nice if the sequencer autostart was a parameter in each preset (and part for multis), as you mention...

Could the "pop" you hear be related to this old thing I reported a while back?

I don't think it's the same problem.
there is when the adsr is trigg before the end of the release time. the problem is the same with or without portamento.

the pop is like wild cut on a wave (back to 0 without fade out)
