Connecting modules
« on: November 02, 2010, 04:19:40 pm »
Hi folks,

I am a little bit ashamed to post this but it is like it is....
I own the Origin for a good while now and I like it (apart from the odd bugs).
So far I always have been planning to dive into this synth but I never actually did due to lack of time or other silly things.... shame on me!

I just started now to create sounds on scratch and I have a problem with either understanding the structure of the module connection or my Origin has another bug.

I try to give a simple example:
I have an oscillator going into a filter audio input. The filter is going into an Out.
When I add a second oscillator I am not able to route the audio of this second oscillator into the same filter. I can only choose the FM input of the filter. If I go into the filter module and try to add the Osc2 audio output I can't choose this, it's not coming up in the drop down menu.

What am I doing wrong? Or do I have a bug?
The manual says that I should be able to route the Osc audio signals to wherever I want, so why can't I have two Osc audio signals going into the same filter?

Thanks for helping me here, I hope this question is not totally stupid!  :-[

You must use a MiniMixer.

To expand on Jeruro's response:
- you can connect the Audio Output of a module to multiple destinations
but
- you can only connect one audio signal to the Audio Input of a module

As with other audio equipment, in order to combine multiple audio signals into one Audio Input, you need to mix them.
In the Origin , this can be achieved using either a Minimixer module (simple 5-input mixer, like the miniMg mixer section) or a JoyMixer module (4-input XY mixer, module extracted from the Prophet VS)
Of course, you can use multiple mixers if you want to mix more signals.

Modulation Inputs, however, have a built-in "modulation mixer" that allows connecting multiple modulation sources to a single modulation destination, with adjustable amount for each source.
