Hmmmm... yes, that ocurred to me, but one solution is, the new
"optional" cabinet - since its use would be actually not necessarily
needed to play regular sounds, - once it is launched, it would be
attached to the main synth cabinet (below or above, for example), and
it would prevent to be closed if is there any cord patched or active
module on it. Once all patch cords are unplugged and all modules are
inactive, the extra cabinet could be closed at the user's will.

A window scroll mode could be toggled on/off for the entire synth+aux
cabinet combo for those who wants to save screen space. I suggest
toggled on/off because there could be a moment the user would want to
see the whole set of modules to decide where to patch.

Just imagine: new modules could be even sold as, say, plug-ins or
add-ons to those who wants specific features (spectrum follower just to
point one)...

OK, now I went too far... :-P

Cheers

Hello!
What I was thinking (as pertaining to multiple audio I/O) is on the panel that you do your sound design on - at the bottom to the right of the Tuning switch , you could place 8 jacks.  These jacks would be virtual 2-circuit or stereo jacks - the first could be for audio output (covers 8 channels - 1&2 on jack 1, 3&4 on jack 2, etc..) The second group of 4 would be the same but audio inputs (or returns).  You have the capability for some of your current jacks to have multiple cables connected.. When you connect a cable to one of the jacks a small window pops up asking if you want circuit 1 or 2 (or perhaps the name of the audio inputoutput - i.e. digiface 9652 out 1, etc.).  For "standard" operation you could have the jacks "normaled" so that with no cables the audio routing out is the same as it is now.  Perhaps even have the nut on the jack rotate to select normaled or not...
What do you think?
