*Any* origin video from Namm 2008?
« on: January 19, 2008, 10:53:34 pm »
When my facination for the Origin began, I really thought this was a cool project. Now they seem busy to convince everyone that they are rather announcement kings than delivery artists.

These days I see all kinds of fascinating things from Namm 2008 (a great new Roland workstation, a great new Access synth module at half the price of the Origin and so on).

But not even a mouse beep from Arturia. At least from my view just re-announcing the Origin Keyboard (another thing with no delivery date) is just a lamer, as long as Arturia is not able to provide *any* impressive Origin video or audio demo from Namm, while short before so called "early 2008" delivery they can't even offer a bunch of sound demo mp3s from the device on their own site.

Anybody from Arturia public relations still alive?

Hello...

He...lll...oooh.....

It appears to be a massive undertaking. The patience will, no doubt, pay off

Stephane Deriau-Reine says in this video that it will ship - guess when?

"BY THE END OF AUTUMN 2008" !!!???

If this is wrong, you should correct it very fast.
I'm off here - probably much longer than autumn 2008.

In a way I am even quite happy I can spend the money which I saved for Origin on my next Roland workstation, available in April/May, the Roland G7 with an amount of live and studio usability never seen before on any keyboard. And for synth sounds I will get by quite well with the new OS 2.7 for my Access Virus TI Keyboard.

All the best for your project (ready for Namm 2009?), and thanks for saving my money by not delivering Origin within more than 1 1/2 years after presenting it at Namm 2007 ... ;-)

This is the expected delivery date for the KEYBOARD version!
The DESKTOP version will reach the shops in a few weeks now.

EDIT: ouch, after a check in my Harrap's book, "few" doesn't mean the same in English (2 to 3) than in French (quite more imprecise).
Don't get so nervous, we are still in hard debugging step scheduled to take 3 to 4 weeks, then sound design immediately follows (count twice this) with little tweaks (residual debug) in parallel.
Be advised all the mechanics are already on shelves, and the circuit boards get soldering by February '08.
More accurate info will officially be posted on our website.

Thanks for correcting, Antoine,
I was really losing faith in your team when I heard that remark.
And now we finally have at least a genereal delivery date from your side...
Why haven't you introduced the Origin rack with all the meanwhile developed richness of sound choices on Namm??? Good demoing and also providing lots of sound mp3s here on your site, showcasing the flexibility of chosing from many different sounds, would do a lot to promote your project!

Wow - what a poor clip, anybody else think that will put buyers off - not sell it to them. A really bad demo. Two SHARCS that what make it sound Phat - BS and one sound with one paremeter being tweeked.

I have to agree - it's an absolute dog of a demo...

Stephane must have been burned out by the time they got to him.

BTW - it's two TigerSHARCs, which are orders of magnitude more powerful than SHARCs. See the benchmarks here.

But I agree on the silliness of the statement. Processing power does *not* automatically mean that the sound will be phat - I really hate it when they say/write that. It just doesn't make any sense. A more logical leap would be that TAE with that kind of processing behind it yields to a phat virtual analog sound.

;)

I'm pretty sure that there will be some demos coming online soon.
