i am thinking of purchasing the v collection. Iam going to it mainly at the studio at work but would like to be able to play it at home on my home pc. i travel about a lot and it wouldnt be the first time i had lost my hardware dongle for software rendering my without my software for a period which i cant afford to be in these days.
So id like to keep at dongle at home and one in the studio. Anyone know if this is possible /

If it would be possible, it would mean we could copy the software, so of course no way.

Thats a problem for me because i cant afford not to be able to use my software if i lose my dongle. As well as my work studio i do alot of travelling and things do get lost.

I see, but it's the same with cubase, and many other software using such protection. Maybe the best way for you would be to insure the dongle?!?

Sure you can have a second dongle!
Just buy a second software package.

It's a simple choice...
Losing days of income, or insure yourself by investing in extra software packages.

Would the 'second' dongle be compatable with the original installation, machine and OS code and e-license ? Are dongles as interchangable as the machines they're used with ? Just questioning because I don't know.

Every CD (install program) is the same.
The license unlocks the installed program for you to use it, no matter which license you use... as long as it is for use with the specified software package.

Thanks for your response. I get the installation part - what I'm questioning is if the two dongles would be 'interchangable' between two different machines - i.e., if the dongle used for the laptop were lost, would the dongle from the desktop installation work on the laptop? I guess what I'm asking is "are the dongles proprietary to the computers they (and the software) were originally installed on and registered with"?

Shouldn't be any problem.
The license gives you the right to use the software, no matter on which computer it is installed.

You can install the software on a thousand PCs at the same time... but only one copy can be used at the same time.
It will work as soon as you plug-in an USB-dongle with a license on it
