Noise (click) with no waveforms or ENV engaged.
« on: June 05, 2013, 02:27:31 am »
I have been trying to dial in a patch and about to pull my hair out over this clicking sound.

I am to believe it is coming from the AMP ENV as it is the only thing that seems to effect it.  (changing filter cutoff changes it timbre slightly)

so: With all waveforms at 0, with both envelopes ADSR all at 0, full cutoff (LP), no resonance, no brute factor, 75% main volume, 0 ENV amount There is a VERY audible click coming out on key press.  It is also audible when waveforms are up and the filter + amp has envelope + or -

This is a similar clicking sound I would expect from 0 release on an AMP ENV, but even tried putting full release does not change it.  :(

 Any thoughts?

Does anyone else's unit do this with similar settings?

Have you tried the ENV speed knob?

Does it have the same effect on fast/slow speed?

On "slow" ENV the sound is still evident, but less spiky.

I've got exactly  the same problem.
My "click" is affected by the filter (LP). So I can get to resonate with cutoff partly open (12 o) and resonance almost att full

Hi,

This seems quite normal bahavior to me.
When all env sliders are at 0 the enveloppe contour is spikeshaped:
It opens fully in about 1 ms, then decays again to zero in 1 more ms.

The click you percieve is thus more or less the same as when you have release set to zero.
What happens in both cases is the nearly instantly closing of the env.

I'm not sure I understand. Is it the amp envelope itself that are generating the sound, because the oscillator is set to 0.
I can delay the click with "attack", but it's still present.

The strange thing is that I havenīt noticed this until now and the click is quite audible.

It is actually the vca, controlled by the amp-enveloppe.
As you probably know attack determines the time the enveloppe takes to go from fully closed to fully opened. Decay determines the time to go from fully open to the level set by sustain slider.

If sustain is set to 0, decay determines the time to go from fully open to fully closed.

The click you are hearing is in fact the vca, controlled by  enveloppe, opening and closing the vca almost instantly.

Try increasing atack/decay a little and your click will disappear. Most of the time however, you will have a signal present and the click won't be noticed altogether.
