MB new best friend Korg MS-20 mini
« on: January 28, 2013, 10:58:08 am »
Happy owner of the Minibrute which Im enjoying very much :) I will get the Korg ms20 mini and was hoping to use some of the functions from the MS20 patch board to control the MB. Since Im quite new with all this CV stuff I wanted to hear from the pros if there is anything I should be aware of connecting the MB with the MS20?

Like 5 volt should be ok to feed the CV filter on the MB?

Anyone that can confirm that this will work? Ex getting LFO out from Mini MS20 to VCF CV in Minibrute? Mainly voltage concerns :)

think I saw somewhere that all the minibrute inputs are good up to 10V.

yes I asked about this, and the mb has 10v rails.  iirc, the ms20 has bipolar -5v to 5v rails.  You'll need a utility module to make either the mb cv signal bipolar or to make the ms20 not bipolar.  luckily as they both fit a total of 10v of space, I don't believe it should be more complicated than this.

It would be risky without more specific info, but if the minibrute inputs are differential, floating with respect to ground, you could hack together a CV cable where the sleeve connection, normally to ground, was actually connected to the ms20's -5V rail, giving a 0-10V CV range.
probably not though, I dunno.

Seems a bit more complicated than I thought. Would really like an official report from Bruno or a member of Arturia.  Dont want to ruin my MB :)

You can pilot your MS 20  by V/oct; there is an entry for this.

The ms20 takes hz/v in, not v/oct.  you may find more information under the "earlier tips" section in this webpage - http://www.gotart.fr/bward/korgms/mstt.html

Thanks for the link  matias_thinKing

 I read it this  " [/size]Another view on the MS-20 in OCT/V mode -
As some of you may already know, the MS-20 can work in OCT/V mode. Use the VCO input instead of CV in. Adjust the potentiometer (VCO section, EG1/EXT) to around 8.5 - 9.2."
