Add ADAT channels to a mix with AudioFuse Studio
« on: January 01, 2023, 07:12:48 pm »
I have a MOTU 8Pre connected to the AFS and it works really well. The only issue I have right now is if I want to monitor the ADAT channels in a mix without my laptop connected. Currently my laptop monitors all the inputs (including the ADAT channels) then sends them back out to the AFS which is physically connected to my speakers. I'd like to be able to add the ADAT channels to CUE 1 or CUE 2 so I can send them directly to the speakers. The ADAT inputs appear greyed out when I attempt to add the tracks to any mix. Thanks.

I think you should not add ADAT channels to CUE 1 or CUE 2

I reached out to Arturia support. As part of the troubleshooting process I reset my AF Studio, and the ADAT channels were once again available to add to any mix for direct monitoring. I switched my SPDIF output from the default COAX to OPTICAL and then the ADAT channels were no longer available / greyed out. It seems to be a limitation that you can't monitor ADAT channels when using SPDIF OPTICAL outs. COAX works fine, so I bought a digital-to-digital converter ($20) to bridge my COAX out from the AF Studio to the OPTICAL input of my speakers. My setup is unusual as I use desktop speakers instead of proper monitors. Still, this is what fixed the issue.
