Retriggering the VCA and VCF
« on: December 03, 2022, 05:44:25 pm »
Hi This might be a stupid question but its driving me mad!

I have a pluck sound set up using the VCA and VCF Envelopes, sounds great.

I want one of the LFOs to re-trigger the Envelopes so I can hold down a key, move the LFO rate, retriggering the key at different speeds but not lose the shape of the VCF envelope for instance

Basically, how do I route the VCA and VCF triggers to the Mod matrix?

Thanks in Advance  :-[

There is no way to trigger the envelopes with the normal LFOs.

I guess using the looping for the envelopes is out of the question since it would alter the shape as you adjust a segment to control the looping speed.

There is one "LFO" that could do it though; the arpeggiator. It's made exactly to retrigger the held key(s), although if you play a chord, it will be arpeggiated of course.

Hi, thank you for this, at least i can put it to bed  :D

i've been looking at the Arp and Seq and adjusting the Tempo from 240 down to 40bpm but it seems to not be enough for what i need

Thank you

You can use the Time Div to get a fairly good range, but not all in one sweep of the tempo knob.

Anyway, this is a request I've seen a few times, and I'd not mind it myself. I'd use it e.g. for programmed ratchets in the sequencer, controlled by the mod lanes.

AFAIK, Arturia is open to feature requests on their FB page for an upcoming FW update, and they take them as support tickets as always - be sure to make your voice heard to increase the chances of seeing your favourites :)

This is a little experiment to this issue and I know this will not help you in your matter. But it is worth trying it out.
- I started from scratch based on the INIT Preset
- The LFO1 Rate drives the VCF Envelope - to some extend... maybe not what you are looking for ;-)
- The Attack of the VCF Envelope is working as a kind of sound shaper
- I have connected LFO1 to to the VCF Env Decay to +100%
Attention: The following parameter must be turned slowly - bit-by-bit - changes are rapidly
- Turn slowly LFO1 Rate to adjust the speed
- Use VCF Env to shape the plug sound

Edit: There is no sound design in this template. It is up to the individual to shape the sound to your own likes.

-- and the two VCF Env Amount knobs are most important!
