Does the noise signal have a DC component?
« on: April 05, 2023, 07:32:15 am »
When I turn the "VCO1<Noise>VCF1" knob to the left, not only noise is added, but also the pitch goes up. With other words: The noise signal seems to have a DC component. Is this normal, or is something defect in my MatrixBrute? How can I add (FM) noise without shifting the pitch?

The white and blue noise has this effect. Not sure what's actually going on since pink and red seems to not have it. The oscillator can be tuned to compensate, but if the modulation is dynamic it may not be so easy. Perhaps corresponding opposite mod on the pitch might work as compensation? In any case, your MxB is just fine :)

I did try this, but it doesn't work. One of the modulations seems to be nonlinear.

That's good to know!

Might it work if I connect an external noise generator to the expression input, and use Expr1/M3 to modulate VCO1 Pitch? But I think the expression input is also unipolar, correct?

It we only had a schematic diagram of the MatrixBrute, we could fix such issues ourselves.
