Oversampling for all plugins
« on: July 05, 2022, 12:53:44 am »
It's weird to only have the distortion plugins oversampled. The preamps and filters especially stand to benefit from oversampling, since being overdriven is an essential part of their sound.

Let's take Pre-1973 as an arbitrary use-case. Having played with real 500-series 73s, and some expensive UAD stuff, I think I have a good idea of what nonlinearities like saturation in a 1073 should sound like. Universal Audio nails the 1073. Plugin Alliance's Lindell whatever-it's-called nearly nails it. Analogue Obsession nearly nails it, and that's a FREE plugin. Even the IK TRackS 73 is quite good. There is no legitimate reason for Arturia to deliver middling Waves-quality products when oversampling is so standardized that even free plugins are doing it.
