Pigments 3.0 CPU is a show-stopper
« on: October 14, 2021, 04:50:10 am »
Yes, it depends on which patch you're on. Yes, if you have (God forbid) poly 8 turned on to enable piano-style chords, it's worse. I have a 2 year old computer, good CPU, meets the specs, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz. 32Gb RAM. SSD for C: drive (Cubase Pro 11 is running off SSD). Pigments max's out CPU on the "Ring My Bell" (default preset) and "Warm Electric Rain" (factory preset). This sort of thing never happened with Pigments 2. Those are just examples - many presets exhibit the CPU spikes >100% , yes. Something needs to be refactored.

I can't take it anymore. How can I revert to Pigments 2?

Hi azpunky.
I'm very sorry to hear that you experience such issues with Pigments.
We are very aware that it uses a lot CPU, we are trying to reduce this.
If you need to get a Pigments 2.0, i suggest you contact our support.
But i must warn you first, if you have some presets or sessions done with Pigments 3.0, it will not be compatible anymore.
I recommend that you export the audio in your session prior to updating.
I wish you all well.
Best regards.

FWIW, I've tried a number of remediations suggested by Arturia support. One significant conclusion I've come to is that the problem is with ASIO handling. In standalone mode, using the ASIO driver gives CPU spikes, but Windows audio is OK. Unfortunately, ASIO is required for my DAW (Cubase Pro 11), so this doesn't help me, but maybe gives a clue for Arturia developers..

FWIW - I'm hitting peaks of ~25% (Task Manager - Performance tab) on 'Ring My Bell', and a little less than that on 'Warm Electric Rain', both while playing 5-note chords.

Six year old PC build - Win 10 Pro, i7 4770 @ 3.40GHz, 16 GB RAM, no SSD. "Focusrite USB ASIO" driver.

Hello anything done to solve this? I've recently bought pigments and cpu usage is very high.
