Import from original SQ-80 floppies
« on: September 25, 2021, 10:03:35 pm »
Anyone know of a way to read the original SQ-80 floppies and extract the patch, sysex and sequence files to make them usable on Windows (or Mac)?

I have waited a few days to see whether someone could actually tell you how you do this, because I do not have an easy answer.

I own an ESQ-1, not an SQ-80, but my understanding is that the disk format Ensoniq used was neither MS-DOS nor Mac, but something unique. It may be that you will need an SQ-80 to read the disks into its internal banks, and then export from the synth to syx format via MIDI. The syx banks load fine into the Artura SQ80 V, but once there they are forever in Arturia's own syx format, which is completely different.
